Tesco has confirmed another Swindon store and Post Office will be closing to the public for several weeks.
The national supermarket chain is currently in the process of revamping several of its local Tesco Express stores in the town.
Now Tesco has confirmed that the Tesco Express in Liden will also be closing, the day after.
A spokesperson for the company said: “Our Liden Express store will close from 6pm on Sunday 23 April to allow us to carry out a full refurbishment.
"We are sorry for any inconvenience this causes but look forward to serving customers from our improved store."
The spokesperson added that the store is expected to be closed for around five weeks to allow the works to take place.
This will also mean that the Post Office inside the Barrington Close store will also be closing, which has been confirmed by the company in a letter to residents, although the Post Office says the work will take around four - not five - weeks.
It said: “We are writing to inform you that due to extensive building work at the above location [Barrington Close], the branch will need to close temporarily.
“The safety of our customers is of paramount importance to us, therefore, to allow for building work to take place, it will be necessary for the service to close, temporarily on Friday, April 21, 2023, at 17:30.
“It is envisaged that the work will take approximately 4 weeks to complete, following which the service will re-open on Monday, May 22, 2023, at 9am.
“Should the dates change, posters will be displayed in the branch and the store to let customers know.”
The nearest Post Office for members of the public who usually use the Liden store will be the one in Covingham, found within the stores at Covingham Square or the one inside the Premier Express at Cavendish Square in Park South.
Councillors from the Labour in Liden, Eldene and Park South – LEPS group had posted about the coming closure on the Facebook page
They said: “As a councillor team we will always keep an eye on Post Office provision in the area, as we know they provide important services for many residents.”
