Strong winds caused Stonehenge to be temporarily closed as the gale reached speeds exceeding 40mph.
Around midday on Wednesday, April 12, access to the main attraction at Stonehenge was suspended to visitors during the strongest gusts of the day.
The monument field was reopened at 1.30pm.
The prehistoric stone circle, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is one of the most popular tourist attractions on Earth, drawing more than one million visitors from around the world every year.
Jessica Trethowan, PR manager at English Heritage, said: βThe monument field was closed temporarily for a short period around midday today while the wind was at its strongest β over 40mph. This was for the safety of our visitors and staff.β
