POLICE have tried to reunite a lost pony with its owners after it caused chaos on Swindon's roads.
The Swindon North East and Rural neighbourhood policing team put out a public appeal for help identifying the owner of a black and white pony on Friday evening after police needed to capture him.
The post said: "Why the long face? Well, this boy has had a big adventure, but now he’s lost.
"Can anyone give us any information about this pony? He’s currently claiming squatters rights in the North Swindon Rural area after creating chaos on the roads earlier.
"He’s a cob-type gelding, around 12 hands, is friendly but feisty and doesn’t like polo mints!"
Members of the public immediately sprang into action, with many speculating that the lost chap could've been an apparently well-known pony in the area called Blue, although it was quickly established that it was merely a Blue-doppelganger.
But it certainly didn't take long for the animal's owner to be found, with the force posting an update on its Facebook page the following morning confirming that thought the owner had been found.
It said: "Thanks for all your help, we think we have identified the owner and the RSPCA is on the case to get him home.
"PS I know we established it’s not ‘Blue’, but that doppelgänger seems to be famous in North Rural, is there a fan club we can join?"
