DELAYS have been caused after a GWR train struck an object in the morning.
Commuters on a train travelling between Swindon and Bristol Temple Meads were given an unexpected shock when the train hit an object that had been obstructing the track just before 9am.
Lines between Swindon and Westbury, and London Paddington and Bristol Temple Meads/Taunton were affected.
But rail workers quickly dealt with the incident and all lines were swiftly reopened by 9.30am.
Network Rail has still advised that passengers may experience train delays of up to 15 minutes, with some disruption expected to last until 10am at the latest.

Updates on the incident are being posted on Twitter by Network Rail under the hashtag #Chippenham.

A spokesperson from Network Rail said: "You may be entitled to compensation if you experience a delay in completing your journey today. Please keep your train ticket and make a note of your journey, as both will be required to support any claim."
