A village just outside of Swindon could receive up to 90 new homes under new plans.

Gladman Developments has submitted an outline planning application to Vale of White Horse District Council to build the houses in Shrivenham.

The homes would be built to the western side of the village on a nearly five-acre plot of land that runs alongside the A420 main road.

The developers say 35 per cent of the homes would be affordable.

The application also touted the idea of a village green with a natural-themed play area located centrally to the site, as well as a pond to create wetland habitat and improve biodiversity.

The application is currently in a consultation phase and the council aims to make a decision by July 6.
