EXPENSIVE car owners in Swindon have been warned to be vigilant and take steps after instances of car theft in the town.
The Swindon North East and Rural Community Policing team has reported that there have been two thefts recently of pricey motors in the area, one from Tadpole Garden Village and one from Oakhurst.
As a result, the team has put a post on its Facebook page encouraging drivers to look into safeguarding their vehicles against potential thieves with nefarious intentions.
"Hands up who knows the difference between a Faraday cage and a Faraday pouch," a spokesperson for the force said.
"Well, one will protect you from lightning strikes, and the other will prevent your car from being stolen.
"Can we urge those of you who have keyless entry cars to invest in a pouch and keep your keys in it - so thieves can’t capture the signal and trick your car into unlocking and starting so they can drive off in it."
"If you haven’t got a pouch yet keep your keys (and the spare) as far away from the car as possible, and if you can switch off the wireless signal on the fob when the keys aren’t in use."
Wiltshire Police was asked to provide further information about the thefts but did not respond.
