The owner of a gym in Swindon has been recognised for her work with a nomination for a national award.
Hannah Coates opened The Unit gym in September of 2022 after overcoming her own issues to create a safe space for others who wish to get fit without judgement.
The gym, located in Gorse Hill, has been the starting point for a career in fitness for Hannah who is originally from the North eats of England.
“The Unit has been incredible and it has opened doors for me to pursue different businesses,” she said.
“I've now opened a Nutrition Club, created two other side-line businesses within the community and have been offering work space to other businesses to help them get started up.
“More is come and this is just the beginning!”
After a successful start to life for The Unit, the 31-year-old has been nominated for the Female Entrepreneur of the Year Award at the National Business and Community Awards.
“It feels incredible as I never thought that I'd be recognised for what I do,” she said.
“This is recognition for everything that I've done and I'm doing with all the businesses that I've created so the feeling is indescribable.
“The first award that I was nominated for in 2022 was in the South West Business Awards for The Unit and I felt amazing back then and still do.”
Residents of Swindon have taken kindly to the opening of The Unit with membership increasing rapidly over the past few months.
“The gym sees over 250 different faces a month at the moment with plans to extend to semi-private open hours so more people can use the facility,” said Hannah.
“This would mean using it as semi-private area which still keeps that personal touch and level of security.”
The gym is constantly improving under Hannah and the fitness fanatic is excited to share the latest developments with her customers.
“A new cardio room has been built, new decoration and layout will be coming in May,” she said.
“I've invested in heavier weight equipment to ensure that lifters and weight increases are covered.”
“The rest of the year has some big goals with three new businesses in the pipeline and also a big secret for 2024 is being brewed.”
Hannah was shortlisted in the top 20 from a total of 139 nominations and the awards take place on Friday, April 21, at The Hilton in Reading.
