A Swindon pub has been voted 'Club of the Year' by the local Campaign For Real Ale branch.
Members of the Swindon and North Wiltshire branch of CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) recently voted for their 2023 award nominations and winners and the Ashford Road Club in Old Town took the crown
The certificate was presented to Secretary Jenny Brownley on Wednesday evening by Paul New, local CAMRA Clubs Co-ordinator.
Paul said: "The quality of the real ales at the club was very good”.
Secretary Jenny Brownley accepted the award and said “The Ashford committee are truly honoured to have accepted the award, and it’s a testament to all the hard work that’s gone in to not only the club, but also to the Ales we now sell and have achieved the highest standards from Cask Marque, so also having the recognition of CAMRA is amazing.”
The Ashford Road Club, located in Old Town, was built in 1896 using a £1200 loan provided by the Stroud Brewery to purchase the land and build the club.
It is now 127 years old. It was refurbished during the Covid lockdown, and they continue to use all the profits available for the upkeep the club and to provide further improvements and benefits for their Members and all guests who frequent the club.
