Swindon is home to plenty of restaurants and places to eat but which ones did Tripadvisor reviewers rate best?
The town’s top eateries have been ranked by travel website Tripadvisor based on the average score of reviews they received from the site’s users.
The top eight all received impressive average rankings of four-out-of-five or higher, but only one can be crowned the best place to eat in Swindon.
8. The Bakers Arms
Despite not being a restaurant, The Bakers Arms made it onto Tripadvisor’s list of the best places to eat in the town.
Located in Badbury, the pub has been praised by reviewers for its “food and ambience” and claims to serve the “finest fish and chips in southern England.”
7. Jicsaw Thai Restaurant
Coming in at number seven is a popular Thai restaurant on Cricklade High Street.
Jicsaw is family run and has received acclaim for its “consistently great food” and “attentive service.”
6. New Calley Arms
The highest ranked pub on the list, the New Calley Arms can be found on Ham Road in Wanborough.
Reviewers have highlighted the broad range of food served at the pub, with the Friday night tapas and the Sunday roast being described as “fantastic” and “fabulous”.
5. Fabio’s Italian Restaurant Swindon
Moving into the town centre, Fabio’s rounds out the top five.
Serving authentic Italian cuisine, the venue also caters for large parties such as birthdays and stag and hen nights.
4. Greek Olive
Just missing out on the top three, Greek Olive serves Greek and Mediterranean cuisine next to GWR Park on Faringdon Road.
Reviewers called the food “incredible” and “incredibly reasonably priced”, but it wasn’t enough for a place on the podium.
3. Bandido Burritos
Securing the bronze medal is Bandido Burritos, which was founded in 2018 and now operates from a 33-foot double decker bus, on Moray Road, which seats 35 people.
The bus’s authentic Mexican street food has been lauded by customers who labelled the burritos the “best ever.”
2. The Jewel in the Crown
Claiming second spot is a highly rated Indian restaurant in Old Town.
The Jewel in the Crown narrowly missed out on top spot but received excellent reviews and has even won awards for its curries.
1. Ruchi
Coming in at top spot, and claiming the crown of Swindon’s best place to eat, is Indian restaurant Ruchi.
With over 1,200 excellent reviews, the Victoria Road eatery has been praised for its food and service, with many agreeing Ruchi is “the best in town.”
