A MAN remains in police custody after being arrested for a shooting in Swindon.

A 17-year-old boy was airlifted to hospital via helicopter for treatment of 'potentially life-changing injuries' after being shot in the early hours of Monday morning just after 12.30am.

Wiltshire Police cordoned off a property in Odstock Road following the incident and forensic officers have been investigating the scene throughout the day.

Wiltshire Police confirmed at 5pm on Monday that two men had been arrested following the attack.

A 42-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life/enable another to do so, but he has since been released with no further action to be taken, say officers.

The other, a 27-year-old man remains in police custody following his arrest on suspicion of GBH with intent and possession of a firearm.

Detectives continue to appeal for information following the shooting.

A spokesperson said: "We are continuing to appeal for information following an incident in the early hours today, in which a 17-year-old boy sustained potentially life-changing gunshot injuries.

"The shooting took place at about 12.30am in the early hours today (24/04) in Odstock Road, Penhill, Swindon.

"Detectives are actively investigating and have made two arrests in connection with the incident.

"Any witnesses or anyone with information about this incident is asked to call us on 999 quoting log 4 of today (24/04)."
