WITNESSES have described the moment they saw armed police officers arrest a man in connection with a recent shooting in Swindon.
Residents of Ramsbury Avenue, in Penhill and Upper Stratton, described seeing "a ton of police officers" descend on the street at around 8am on Monday morning.
It came hours after a 17-year-old boy was left with "potentially life-changing" injuries after being shot in Odstock Road, in Penhill, and air-lifted to Oxford's John Radcliffe Hospital just after 12.30am.
One Ramsbury Way resident described what they saw unfold there on Monday: "There's been a lot of police activity here since the shooting. I wasn't sure when they first arrived but they were there when I took the children to school at 8am.
"I saw armed police arrest a male from one of the houses, and now police have been here all day standing guard outside."
This resident confirmed that officers had been outside until at least 5pm but may have been there after that.
Wiltshire Police were contacted for confirmation that this was related to the shooting, as members of the public believed.
A spokesperson for the force confirmed that this was the case, they said: "The activity on Ramsbury Avenue is related to the arrest of a man in relation to the incident yesterday."
A large cordon blocking off several houses remained at the crime scene until at least 10am on Monday, as forensic officers investigated a specific home in Odstock Road.
Later on Monday, Wiltshire Police confirmed that two arrests had been made following the shocking incident, the second of two shootings in the town within a month.
