Police have stepped up patrols in a Swindon suburb following a shooting in the area.

Neighbourhood officers from the Stratton, Central Swindon North and West Swindon team, which covers Penhill, carried out foot patrols in the area throughout all of Monday.

This followed the shooting of a 17-year-old in Odstock Road, who was airlifted to hospital with 'potentially life-changing' injuries.

Two men were arrested following the incident, although one was released with no further action, and the other - a 27-year-old - remained in police custody well into Monday evening.
