The owner of a new restaurant opening in Swindon says the wait will be worth it after delaying its opening date.
Kamil Singh, 24, from Swindon, and business partner Sukman Limbu have spent the last few weeks transforming the former Imperial Express Chinese takeaway in Regent Circus into an exciting Japan-themed takeaway and restaurant - Kaizen Burger & Sushi.
The new town centre eatery had an advertised opening date of April 25 but has now been pushed back to May 3 while Kamil and the team put on the finishing touches for the new venture.
"Swindon has everything there in terms but good, but it's lacking those hidden gems, those small places people tell their family and friends about - I'm hoping we'll be one of those," he said.
The former Imperial Express had been hit by a bad food hygiene rating prior to closing, but Kamil, who has been in the restaurant business for several years, was keen to stress that he is a completely new owner not affiliated with the previous ones.
He added that he had even ripped out the entire kitchen and started again after moving in, replacing everything in it with brand-new stuff.
The new restaurant which Kamil describes as 'fast dining' represents around a £100,000 investment into the building. It will seat 25 covers and will employ roughly 8 people.
The interior has been decorated with neon and vast murals, to give it a Tokyo-night-live vibe, and Kamil is hoping it'll become a regular destination for many in the town.
While Kamil is new to the building some in Swindon will be familiar with his food as his takeaway businesses Sushi Now, Burger Now and Mexican Now have been operating in the town for many months.
Those businesses will all continue as they are all moving out of their former Commercial Road home into the Regent Circus building alongside Kaizen, but Kamil assured that it would be offering something completely different.
"If you liked that food, you'll love this food," Kamil added.
"It's a similar menu to the other businesses, but everything for Kaizen is completely new.
"All of our ingredients will be fresh, and everything is made to order at the time it's ordered.
"I love Japanese food and I hope the people of Swindon will like it too, I'm so excited and can't wait for opening - we're only a week away."
