A Swindon care home celebrated its tenth anniversary in style with Nepalese food and dancers.
The Orchid Care Home on Guernsey Lane opened on April 30, 2013, and celebrated its tenth birthday last week.
Manager Dawn Drew has had two separate stints at the home totalling five years and she has loved every moment so far.
“Overall it has been a very good experience and I don’t ever have to want for anything here.
“The two years away the home was hit by Covid so the fact we have been able to celebrate the way we have today with residents coming together and we all really appreciate that.”
The 60-year-old is responsible for 84 residents and was proud to provide them with an afternoon of entertainment on Thursday.
“It has been such a special day today as they could all join in together and be entertained,” she said.
“We had a Nepalese experience as my housekeeping team are predominantly from Nepal so they danced in traditional costumes and some of the residents joined in.
“They also cooked Nepalese food which was a little too hot for some of the residents but they nevertheless got the opportunity to taste it.
“The male Nepalese dancer is in fact our handyman and we were all impressed with his dance moves.”
