Swindon's hospital is set to benefit from the efforts of three local women who completed the London Marathon to fundraise for it.
Gail Folland, Norja Richardson and Sarah Parfitt ran the London Marathon for Brighter Futures, the registered charity for the Great Western Hospital
All three ran for different departments across the Trust. Gail ran the marathon for a second time, after completing it in 2021 and ran for the Trust’s Neonatal Ward after her son Elliot was treated there after he was born.
Gail has raised £1,120 so far for the unit and plans to continue running and fundraising.
Norja, who ran the Berlin Marathon just weeks before London, ran for the first time and chose to raise money for the cancer services unit and has raised over £350 for the unit so far.
Sarah is fundraising for Brighter Futures, Partners for Change Ethiopia and the Maidenhead Food Bank and chose to support the Trust’s end-of-life team after they cared for her Dad, Ron who passed away in March.
Sarah has raised £1000 for each of her causes and plans to use her fundraising to install a bench in her father's memory within the Trust’s well-being garden.
A spokesperson for Brighter Futures said: "We’d like to thank them for their support to the hospital, it really will make a difference to the departments that they have chosen to fundraise for."
