A man has been found dead in one of Swindon's country parks.
Mouldon Hill Country Park, just off Thamesdown Drive, was closed off to members of the public on Saturday morning (April 29) as Wiltshire Police searched for a vulnerable person.
The search was assisted by Wiltshire Search and Rescue and a helicopter was also used.
In an update provided by police just after lunchtime, it was confirmed that the body of a man had been found.
In a statement released on social media, a Wiltshire Police spokesperson said they believed the man was in his 50s and from Swindon.
The full statement from the police said: "Police responding to reports of a welfare concern have sadly located a man’s body in Mouldon Hill Country Park, Swindon.
"While formal identification has not yet taken place, we believe the deceased to be a man in his 50s from Swindon.
"His family are being supported by specialist-trained officers and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.
"We hope that you will please respect their privacy."
The park, situated just off Thamesdown Drive opposite Taw Hill junction and next to Oakhurst, has since reopened to the public.
