A motorcyclist has been airlifted to hospital following a crash with a car on a major Wiltshire road.
A man in his 30s was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol by a Great Western Air Ambulance after crashing on the A365 Bath Road at Seend just before 4.30pm on Saturday, April 30.
Police confirmed that the young man is being treated for what is considered to be 'life-changing injuries'.
Following the crash, the road remained closed at the Red Box junction, the Three Magpies and at the Bowerhill roundabout, Melksham in both directions overnight.
Motorists were also encouraged to find alternative routes.
The closure lasted over 15 hours to allow police to investigate the scene before it finally reopened on Sunday morning.
In a statement on the Wiltshire Specialist Ops Twitter page, the county force's Roads Policing Unit confirmed that there had been a serious injury, and shared some photos from the scene, including one of the Great Western Air Ambulance, which typically covers Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset.
It said: "#RPU and the Serious Collision Investigation Team #SCIT are at scene dealing with a serious injury RTC A365 Bath Road between Melksham and Seend, the road will be closed pending the investigation."

Wiltshire Police provided an update on Sunday morning confirming the injury, it said: "We were called to Bath Road, Seend just before 4.30pm yesterday (Saturday) to reports of a road traffic collision between a car and a motorcycle.
"A man in his 30s, the rider of the bike, was airlifted to Southmead Hospital to be treated for life-changing injuries."
"The road was closed for more than 15 hours and reopened around 8am this morning (Sunday)."
The spokesman added that no arrests had been made, but that they were looking for anyone who may have seen the crash take place or might have captured it on film to come forward and help them with their investigation.
