A NEW Swindon town centre betting shop getting one-step closure as decoration work continues.
It was announced in January this year that The Card Factory in The Parade, next to pharmacy Superdrug, was set to close, which it did recently.
Planning applications showed that bookmaker William Hill had applied for a change of use on the premises
This application was supported by the unit's landlord who said there'd been little interest from retailers in taking it on, and eventually Swindon Borough Council approved it.
Photos taken recently show that work has been well underway in transforming the former card shop.
Gone are the familiar bright yellow block letters of the Card Factory's logo, and the building's existing shop face, replaced by a William Hill darker blue, framed windows and a door on the other side.
Inside, shopfitters could be seen getting the building ready but the makings of a typical betting shop interior could be seen.
It is not yet known exactly when the new William Hill will be opening, but part of its installation will include new satellite dishes for feeds of sports events, air conditioning and signage.
The Card Factory chain has another shop in Swindon at the Orbital Retail Park.
