SWINDON'S Freedog sports complex has announced a major refurbishment is coming this year.
The business, in Techno Trading Estate, Bramble Road, is well known for its trampolines and climbing areas but will be losing the trampolines, which have come to the end of their lifespan.
Instead it is replacing them with a series of other sports-based interactive activities, bringing something new to the town.
This includes a warped wall, interactive mazes, a ninja run, powerplay football, aerostrike netball and a "MEGA strike arena".
The climbing area is also being extended, and the centre will be adding a 'massive' multi-storey soft play area for young children, and a "puppy pen" for even smaller children.
They will also be building a new café seating area, with air conditioning.
The last sessions on the current trampoline facilities will be on June 4, with work starting to remove them the following day, and Clip ‘n Climb will remain open on weekends only while the site undergoes this transformation.
Work will be starting on the new elements on June 5, and the centre will remain open during this time, although the trampolines will be removed.
The new facilities are planned to open to the public on July 22, and Freedog is set to have an opening event to welcome people to the new features.
A spokesperson for Freedog said: "We’ve loved our trampolines, and hope you have too – but unfortunately, they’re reaching the end of their life, and we thought it was time for a change! Freedog Bristol is remaining the same, so you can still get your Freedog Trampolining kicks there, but it’s time for new adventures in Swindon!"
Alana Kershaw, centre manager, said this represented a significant investment into the site from the company.
She explained: "It’s going to be an area where people pay one price and can go on everything, you can't do anything else like this anywhere nearby.
"I'm really excited, it’s a bit nerve-wracking in a sense because I'm in charge of it all and responsible for making sure all the work goes through on time, and there's lots of work to do.
"But it's going to be really cool and the team are all really excited. Everyone found out about it a couple of months ago and have had to keep it quiet since then until we announced it."
