The victim of a “hit and run” has urged the driver who left her alone in the road with serious injuries to come forward.

Kerrie Francis was walking home from Bongo’s Bingo, at MECA in Regent Circus, when she was hit from behind by a car on Mannington Lane, at some point between 11.30pm and midnight.

The 25-year-old said she was walking on the side of oncoming traffic when the car, which was allegedly on the wrong side of the road, struck her.

Kerrie was left with a deep elbow laceration on her right arm, which required a skin graft surgery, and a head wound which needed to be stapled.

The driver, described as a white male in his 40s with dark brown hair, briefly stopped and asked her if she was ok, before getting back in his vehicle and driving away.

Kerrie said: “The car came out of nowhere behind me and I didn’t even realise what had happened. I felt it hit me a few times and then I was lying on the ground.

“He got out and asked me if I needed an ambulance, I was sat there dazed and said I didn’t know, then he got back in his car and drove off.

“I was on my own, I was covered in blood, and he just drove off.”

Kerrie lost her phone in the collision and spent around half an hour knocking on the doors of nearby houses until somebody called the emergency services for her.

She then spent the night in A&E before travelling to Oxford for her surgery, which will leave scarring on her arm and leg.

She added: “I’m quite angry to be honest. I very clearly wasn’t ok, there was blood coming from my head and it was scary, but he drove off and it bugs me that he hasn’t come forward.y

“Just come forward. I’m going to be left with scars and they should just own up to what they’ve done.

“I’d be happy enough with him saying ‘I’m sorry I hit you’.”

Kerrie also appealed for anyone with CCTV which might help the ongoing investigation to contact police.

A police spokesperson said: “We are appealing for the driver to come forward, or for anyone with information about the driver to contact us.

“We are also appealing for any witnesses or anyone who has potential dashcam footage around that time to come forward.

“If you can help, please contact us on 101 quoting reference 54230049990.”
