A driving instructor has been caught drunk at the wheel.
Swindon man John Tibangu was snared by officers from Royal Wootton Bassett, who say they were tipped off by the public that he might be driving under the influence of alcohol.
He was found to be well over the limit and has been banned from the roads for 18 months.
A post on the Royal Wootton Bassett & Cricklade Police Facebook Page on Friday afternoon (May 19) said:"The driver of the vehicle, John Tibangu who is a driving instructor based in Swindon, was arrested by officers this morning after he failed a roadside breath test.
"He provided an evidential reading of nearly twice the legal limit and, due to his occupation and the risks he posed to himself, his students and the public, he was remanded in custody for the next available court hearing.
"The courts found him guilty of driving whilst over the prescribed limit and he was disqualified from driving for 18 months.
"If it wasn't for the information provided by the public, this driver would likely have continued to teach learner drivers whilst over the prescribed limit and could have caused a death or serious injury on the roads.
"If you suspect someone of drink driving, call 101 or 999 in an emergency to report it to the police."
