The huge former home of a town centre shop is on sale for just over £1.8 million.
Two property consultant companies are advertising a sizeable site on the junction of Fleet Street and Bridge Street that has needed a new owner since Wilko moved out in 2018.
The three-storey retail premises with basement storage has its main entrance via Bridge Street, and is suitable for alternative uses, subject to planning permission.
Its ground and first floors have previously been used as sales accommodation while the basement used to be a storage area.
The second floor has a separate entrance to the rear of the property that is accessed via a lane off Fleet Street.
There is loading access to the rear of the property via a shared yard which is accessed from Queen Street or Carr Street.
A Zoopla listing from Smethurst Property Consultants notes that the entire 49,581sq ft premises are on the property market for £1,850,000 at £37.31 per square foot.
Another listing from Kilpatrick and Co on the same website for the same price lists the square footage of the space as being between 12,254 and 49,584sq ft, and suggests that there is planning approval for the 8.180 sq ft second floor to be turned into 12 flats.
