One of Swindon’s most famous daughters is to be honoured with a painted mural tribute in the heart of the town.
Diana Dors was a movie legend, starring in several films of the golden age including 1956’s ‘Yield to the Night’ and 1957's ‘The Unholy Wife’.
The actress was born in Swindon and grew up in the town, attending a small private school named Selwood House on Bath Road from which she was eventually expelled.
Diana is still well loved in Swindon and her legacy is to be honoured in art form as a painting of her is currently underway in the town centre.
The mural is to be the latest piece of art to appear on the grey hoardings on Carfax Street that are covering the improvement works around Fleming Way.
Swindon Borough Council commissioned local artists to paint murals that show off Swindon’s history and culture to brighten up the area while construction is completed.
Both the town’s music and transport past have been honoured with murals dedicated to local band XTC as well as Swindon’s railway history already being completed at the site.
Diana’s mural is a work in progress but the actress’ recognisable face has already been added to the hoardings teasing what is next to come.
