An emergency incident concerning a person’s welfare caused Swindon’s railway station to be locked down last night causing long delays to commuters.
At 6.16pm on Tuesday night Great Western Railway tweeted that all railway lines were blocked due to trespassers on the railway.
Commuters were told that train services running through the station may be cancelled or delayed with disruption expected to last an hour.
British Transport Police arrived at 6.07pm and by 7.37pm, Great Western Railway confirmed that all lines were open and services were returning to normal.

Disruption was expected to continue into the evening though until 8.15pm.
As of Wednesday morning, all trains are running normally again with no disruption from the incident.
A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to Swindon station at 6.07pm last night, May 30, following concern for the welfare of a female.
“She was taken to a place of safety.”
