Wiltshire's motorists will have 34 road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And one of them is expected to cause major delays – with drivers facing a holdup of at least 30 minutes. Another six will cause moderate delays of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that 14 closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• A36, from 9.47pm May 23 to 11.59pm May 30, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A36 Quidhampton to St Paul's Roundabout - some carriageway incursion for SSE works.

• A419, from 8pm May 23 to 6am May 31, severe delays (more than 30 minutes): A419 northbound, carriageway closure Turnpike, junction to Cricklade, junction for Cyclic maintenance.

• A303, from 8pm January 18 to 6am June 17, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A303 eastbound, Parkhouse, slip road and lane closures for resurfacing work.

• A36, from 8pm April 3 to 5am July 1, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A36 both directions Bathampton to Ower mobile lane closures for horticultural works.

• A36, from 8am April 11 to 6pm July 30, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A36 northbound, Thoulstone exit and entry slip closed for directional drilling / 3rd party sewage pipe installation, diversion for exit slip via A36 northbound to Warminster Road Roundabout, A361 southbound, Clink Road and A3098, diversion for entry slip via A36 southbound to A350 roundabout, to turn and return northbound.

• A36, from 7am May 9 to 7pm August 4, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A36 both directions Wilton Road between Shapland Close and Fountain Way. 2-way signals for housing development works.

• A36, from midnight, February 11 to 11pm September 3, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A36 Salisbury to Whiteparish used by GWR Railway Replacement Buses on Salisbury to Southampton route.

• A36, from midnight, March 4 to 11pm October 29, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A36 Cotley Hill Roundabout to St Pauls Roundabout used by GWR Railway Replacement Buses on Warminster - Salisbury route.

• M4, from 9am January 29 to 4pm November 6, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 17 exit slip lane closure for roundabout widening scheme.

• M4, from 10pm January 29 to 4pm November 6, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 both directions, junction 17 exit slip roads 40mph speed limit for roundabout widening scheme.

• A4, from midnight, December 19 2022 to 11pm November 23 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4, junction 16 to 17 and A4 Bath used by GWR Railway Replacement Buses on Swindon - Bristol Temple Meads and Bristol Temple Meads - Westbury routes.

• A36, from midnight, December 19 2022 to 11pm November 23 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A36 Bath to Warminster used by GWR Railway Replacement Buses on Bristol Temple Meads - Frome route.

• A34, from midnight, February 1 to 11.59pm December 31, slight delays (under 10 minutes): abnormal Load - Swansea to Southampton.

• M4, from 11.59pm April 27 2021 to midnight, July 31 2024, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4, junction 17 to 16 eastbound, 24hr hard shoulder closure for carriageway defect repair.

And a further 20 closures will begin over the next two weeks:

• A303, from 7.30pm May 30 to 6.30am June 6, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A303 both directions Countess to Cholderton lane closures for litter picking works.

• A303, from 8pm May 30 to 5am June 1, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A36 both directions Wilton to Deptford carriageway closures for maintenance, diversion via A360 from St Paul's roundabout and A303.

• M4, from 9pm May 30 to 6am May 31, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 14 to junction 15, carriageway closure for roadmarkings.

• M4, from 9pm May 30 to 6am May 31, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 17 to junction 16 lane closure for electrical works.

• A419, from 8pm May 31 to 6am June 6, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A419 carriageway closure southbound, Spine Road, junction to Lady Lane, junction for cyclic maintenance works.

• M4, from 10pm May 31 to 6am June 1, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 17 to 16 lane closure for technology works.

• M4, from 8pm June 1 to 6am June 2, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 15 to junction 14, Lane closures for technology work.

• A36, from 8pm June 1 to 6am June 2, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A36 both directions Quidhampton to St. Paul's roundabout closed for drainage works. Diversion via A3094, New Bridge Road, A36 and vice versa.

• M4, from 10pm June 1 to 6am June 2, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 16 to 15 lane closure for technology works.

• M4, from 8pm June 2 to 6am June 3, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 both directions, junction 15 to 16 lane closure for barrier repairs.

• A303, from 8pm June 4 to 6am June 5, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A303 eastbound, Deptford to Winterbourne Stoke - carriageway closure for survey works, diversion via A36 southbound, A360 northbound, join A303.

• A36, from 7am June 5 to 6pm June 16, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A36 both directions Warminster Road, junction with Church Lane - multi-way signals for Wiltshire Council works.

• A36, from 8am June 5 to 5pm June 26, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A36 both directions Codford St Peter - two-way signals for electrical works on behalf of ESP Electricity.

• A303, from 8pm June 5 to 5am June 7, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A303 Both Directions Parkhouse to Countess carriageway closure for drainage, diversion, westbound, - A338 southbound to Portway Road, Old Sarum, A345 northbound to Countess Rbt, eastbound, - A345 southbound to Portway Road Old Sarum, A338 northbound to Parkhouse.

• M4, from 9pm June 5 to 6am June 6, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 17 entry slip - lane closure for electrical works.

• A36, from 8pm June 6 to 6am June 7, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A36 northbound, West Grimstead to Landford Wood lane closure for surveys.

• A36, from 8pm June 8 to 5am June 9, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A36 both directions Upton Lovell. Multi-way signals for sign erection.

• A303, from 8pm June 12 to 4am June 14, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A303 eastbound and westbound, Countess roundabout to Longbarrow roundabout - carriageway closed for drainage works, diversion eastbound: A344 northbound, B3086 northbound, The Parkway eastbound, A345 (Countess Road) southbound, re-join A303, diversion westbound, is reverse of eastbound, diversion above.

• A36, from 9pm June 12 to 6am June 13, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A36 Both Directions Wilton to Salisbury two-way signals for surveys.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
