Residents in Wiltshire were left startled this week as a cohort of American bomber planes flew over the county.
Two American "global strike" supersonic bombers touched down at RAF Fairford just outside Swindon on Tuesday as part of the Bomber Task Force Europe 2023-3 operation.
Two more of the planes arrived on Thursday and all four of the U.S. Air Force B-1B Lancers, known as 'Bones', could be seen flying over Swindon and Wiltshire that day, which left some residents startled.
Dave Waite who works at a quarry near to the Fairford airbase, could not believe the sound of the aircraft as they flew above him.
“I drive a bulldozer so I was amazed at how loud the planes were and how the ground rumbled,” he said.
The 60-year-old managed to capture one of the planes on video as it soared over his work site on Thursday.
Tracey Cook of Cricklade also saw the American bombers soar over Wiltshire.
“One of the bombers flew over my house last night which was a fantastic sight and very loud,” she said.
“I loved seeing such great planes fly over.”
