A drug driver has been banned from the roads for three years.
Zak Milner of Sangster Avenue, Melksham, was stopped on the A350 near Yarnbrook, south of Trowbridge, on Sunday, October 27, 2022.
The 23-year-old was suspected of being under the influence of drugs and proceeded to fail a roadside drug wipe test.
Milner was arrested as a result and taken to custody, where he then tested positive for cannabis.
He was sentenced in a hearing at Salisbury Magistrates’ Court on June 5 where he pleaded guilty to the offence.
He has since been disqualified from driving for three years, fined £162 and is required to pay a victim surcharge of £65 as well as court costs of £85.
Roads Policing Officer Paul Brewster said: “There can be no excuse for driving under the influence of drugs and it is very fortunate that the defendant’s actions didn’t result in a collision.
“I’m pleased that the courts recognised the severity of his actions and have banned him from the roads for the years to come.”
