Four drivers have been slapped with traffic offence reports for speeding through a Wiltshire village with one caught travelling at almost 50mph.
Officers PC Ball, PC Lloyd and PC Thorpe, from the Royal Wootton Bassett and Cricklade neighbourhood teams, carried out speed checks on the road through the village of Hook, near Swindon, on Sunday, June 4.
While the area has a 30mph speed limit, one driver was caught racing through the village at 47mph.
In total four motorists were handed traffic offence reports for their speed, while a number of others were given “words of advice” from police.
Police have warned road users they may face a fine or points on their license if they do not abide by the correct speed limit.
A spokesperson for the force said: “This road has a 30mph speed limit… please remember that it is your responsibility to familiarise yourself with the speed limit of the road you are driving on.
“If you are found to be exceeding the speed limit, you may be issued with a fine and points on your driving licence.”
