A 15-year-old boy has been charged with the attempted murder of a teenager who was stabbed in a Swindon field.
The suspect, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been charged and remanded in custody following his arrest on Friday, June 9.
This comes after a 17-year-old boy was stabbed during a disorder at Meadowcroft Fields, in Upper Stratton, at around 8pm on Thursday.
The victim was treated by paramedics at the scene before being airlifted to Southmead Hospital in Bristol with “life-threatening injuries”.
He remains in hospital and is described as being in a serious but stable condition.
Police are continuing to investigate the violent incident and have urged any witnesses, or those with information, to come forward.
A spokesperson for the force said: “We continue to appeal for witnesses or information from the local community in relation to this incident.
“Please contact us on 101 quoting log 344 of June 8.
“Alternatively, call CrimeStoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.”
A Section 60 order remains in place for much of Swindon and Highworth, until 10.55pm on Saturday, following the stabbing.
This allows police to stop and search anyone in the area without the need for reasonable grounds.
