A newly-opened restaurant in Swindon's town centre has received its first food hygiene rating.

Kaizen Burger and Sushi has settled into the former home of Imperial Express between Regent Circus and the bottom of Victoria Road.

Kamil Singh and business partner Sukman Limbu opened the Japan-themed takeaway and restaurant in May after ripping out the old kitchen and replacing everything in it with brand-new equipment.

The interior has been decorated with neon and large murals, and staff offered free burgers to 150 customers on June 1 to celebrate the business' arrival to the area.

Swindon Borough Council's food hygiene team visited the restaurant on May 25 and have now published the results of their inspection.

Kaizen/Sushi Now/Burger Now/Mexican Now has received an overall rating of four out of five - Good.

Hygienic food handling was considered to be generally satisfactory while the management of food safety and cleanliness and condition of the facilities and building were each found to be good.

This latest rating means that of Swindon's 258 restaurants, cafes and canteens with ratings, 224 (87 per cent) have ratings of five out of five, and none have zero ratings.
