Events are being held in Swindon to mark Refugee Week.

Swindon City of Sanctuary is taking part in three community sessions throughout the next seven days.

On Tuesday, a Compassion in Action exhibition at The Hub on The Parade took place from 10am to 2pm, showcasing artwork that has been created by people with lived experience of migration along with pieces from people in Swindon on what compassion means to us as a community.

Then, on Wednesday, Lawn Manor Academy's third annual Celebration of Welcomes event will be held from 6pm to 7.30pm to celebrate cultural diversity.

A community event at Swindon Central Library from 10am to 2pm with stalls, books, an Arabic dual language storytime activity, and more ways to explore compassion in action.

This ties in with the theme of this year's Refugee Week, on the campaign's 25th anniverdary.

A spokesman said: "In the UK, dangerous anti-migration government rhetoric continues, along with inhumane conditions for asylum seekers.

"Within our own experiences are all the tools we need to be compassionate, not just to ourselves and those in our immediate circle but to all our human neighbours and our one shared home, planet earth."
