A Wiltshire village has been voted the most stylish place to live in the county.
Castle Combe, near Chippenham, was awarded the honour by a poll of 5,000 people who ranked locations based on the beauty of buildings, the scenery and popularity with artists as a filming location.
The village also performed well on a national level, coming in at 12th on a list topped by Lavenham in Suffolk.
The picturesque village is popular with tourists and has been used as a filming location for blockbusters such as Stephen Spielberg’s War Horse.
Wiltshire’s top five was rounded out by Salisbury, Grittleton, Tisbury and Marlborough.
The poll was held by Chippenham-based online store Furniturebox, which has rapidly grown since it was set up by two school friends seven years ago.
A Furniturebox spokesperson said: “Any of the Wiltshire locations voted by residents would have been worthy winners and show why it is such a stylish county, loved by artists, film-makers and tourists from all over the world.
“What is interesting is how many of the most stylish locations were not the most affluent places in their locality.
“Good style can be achieved whatever your budget and what marks out Wiltshire's most stylish places is how they have a timeless quality achieved over generations by the stylish people living there.”
