Keep your eyes on the skies.

The Red Arrows will fly over Wiltshire this afternoon to mark Armed Forces Day.

One of the world's most famous aerobatic display teams is set to soar over Trowbridge and other parts of the county after 5pm.

The Red Arrows were formed in 1964 and act as the face of the Royal Air Force, representing the speed, agility and precision of the organisation.

Stationed at RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire, the team is made up of pilots, engineers and essential support staff with frontline, operational experience.

The planes themselves are Hawk fast jets which have modified engines to enable smoke to be emitted.

Coloured dye is then mixed with the diesel to produce red, white or blue smoke.

The jets will fly over Newquay at 5.30pm, then east of Padstow at 5.32pm, south of Wellington at 5.43pm, and north of Buckland Dinham at 5.49pm.

The Trowbridge flypast is expected to happen at 5.50pm before the team continue their journey northwest of Bromham at 5.51pm, south of Shipton at 5.56pm, south of Moreley Pinkney at 6.02pm, south of Thurleigh at 6.06pm and west of Willingham at 6.09pm.

This flight will end at Marham at 6.14pm. The timings and route may change due to weather or other requirements.
