CHILDREN from three Swindon schools are teaming up with a well-established orchestra to perform ABBA hits inside a local church.

Well-known classics from composers including Offenbach, Massanet and Delibes alongside the popular music of ABBA and Burt Bacharach will be on offer at a special concert by Royal Wootton Bassett Orchestra

They will be joined by a recently formed ten-member band made up from Peatmoor Community Primary School, Lydiard Millicent Church of England Academy Primary School, and Ridgeway Farm Church of England Academy Primary School.

The well-established Royal Wootton Bassett Orchestra formed in 1982, and the young band who are in their first year of performing will both be playing in support of All Saints’ Renovation and Renewal Project.

This aims to renovate the 900-year-old building and help to make it fit the needs of future generations.

Reverend Tudor Roberts, All Saints vicar, said: “We’re thrilled that Royal Wootton Bassett Orchestra have agreed to play for us and are promising such an enjoyable and varied programme.

"We’re delighted, too, to encourage the talent of young musicians from three local schools who are growing in confidence each time they play. It’s sure to be a great evening!”

The event takes place on Saturday, July 8 at 6.30 pm, at All Saints Church, Lydiard Millicent.

Tickets, priced £5, email tudor.roberts.aslm@gmail.com or on the door if still available on the night.
