POLICE investigations into allegations of firefighters taking and sharing photographs of women who died in car crashes have been concluded.

Dorset Police and Wiltshire Police were made aware of allegations by the Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service (DWFRS) which centred on limited details relating to inappropriate sharing of images on WhatsApp.

This sparked the service to launch its own independent review.

ITV News published the allegations after hearing claims of misconduct from an anonymous whistleblower.

However, Dorset Police said it conducted "proportionate enquiries" and found "no evidence amounting to any criminal offences to support the allegations made within the ITV report".

The investigation included opening up an anonymous reporting line and speaking to named individuals within DWFRS and Wiltshire Police.

Both Dorset Police and Wiltshire Police are satisfied that a thorough investigation has taken place and these enquiries have now concluded.

Wiltshire Police assistant chief constable Deb Smith said: “We take allegations of this nature incredibly seriously as demonstrated by this thorough and impartial investigation.

“We would always encourage anyone who has been a victim of crime, or thinks they have information relating to a crime, to come forward and report such matters.”
