A new TV advert has compared Swindon with an enormous swirling vortex - and suggests visiting the town is a more dangerous experience.
The AA has released several new adverts this week around the idea of customers choosing bad decisions safe in the knowledge they are covered.
The association has provided insurance and breakdown cover to drivers since 1905.
In the latest advert, a car pulls up to a crossroads and its occupants are faced with a signpost.
The couple have the choice of driving to Swindon or an enormous swirling vortex - and choose the latter.
With the apocalyptic visuals and depressing grey skies, the town was given a far from kind portrayal and the gag left some Swindonians far from impressed.
“What’s with the new AA advert,” said one Facebook user accompanied with an angry face emoji.
Others found the funny side as one YouTube user commented: “I too would choose an enormous swirling vortex over going to Swindon.”
The AA responded to this comment with a hand-over-mouth emoji, seemingly confirming the mischievous gag’s intention.
