Residents of Swindon can now write and send letters to their dearly departed loved ones with a new initiative.
The Stratton St Margaret Parish Council has installed a special ‘Letters to Heaven’ post box in the Lower Stratton cemetery on Godwin Road.
Painted white with gold lettering, the unique addition to the graveyard provides those grieving with a way to write and post a letter to someone they have lost.

A spokesperson for Stratton St Margaret Parish Council said: “We recently purchased a ‘Letters to Heaven’ post box.
"The concept is to help grieving individuals whether they are children or adults.
“It’ll allow them to write a letter to their late loved ones and post it in the letter box.”
The response from residents have been strong with many taking to social media to praise the post box.
“What a beautiful idea,” said one resident.
Another added: “I saw this still wrapped up on my dad’s anniversary, absolutely love it and my children will love sending letters.”
Stratton St Margaret Parish Council confirmed that the letters will be treated as confidential waste.
