The owner of a Swindon restaurant that has earned an improved food hygiene rating has revealed the reason for the change.
PiriCo is a chain of piri piri restaurants with five branches across the South West, including one located on Cricklade Road.
The restaurant was inspected by the Food Standards Agency in December 2022 where it earned a rating of three out of five.
Six months on, and the eatery had a follow-up inspection on Friday, June 23, and saw its score rise to four.
Saqib Rasul has been PiriCo owner for two years and has revealed the reasons behind the improvement.
“The management and staff are so much better now since we had a reshuffle six months ago,” he said.
“I believe this is the main reason as we never had many issues of hygiene but it was our record keeping which took us down on the score.
“The previous team did not keep up to date with the records, never a problem regarding cleanliness.”
The 49-year-old is happy to see the improvement but is striving for more in the coming months.
“I feel far more relaxed as things are better and it is all running smoother,” said Saqib.
“We are aiming for a five next time as no one makes better food than us in Swindon.”
