A LIQUIDATOR being appointed at one of Clem Morfuni's businesses is "nothing to be concerned about," say Swindon Town.

On an Australian government website, a notice was discovered by Town fans which stated a business of the Robins' owner "formerly known as Axis Plumbing NSW Pty Ltd" had seen a liquidator put in place on May 24, 2023.

The status of the company read: "in liquidation" and had caused concern among supporters that Town's owner was losing businesses which may help to fund the club.

But Town's CEO, Rob Angus, claimed in a club statement that any worries were out of place and Morfuni's businesses had simply undergone a restructure.

He said: "Regarding the references to Axis Plumbing NSW and an appointment of a liquidator, this is nothing to be concerned about as this is an old and, in effect, redundant company within the Axis Group where there are a large number of companies currently trading.

"The Axis Services Group is made of many different companies and when, from time to time, the Group restructures, there are instances where certain entities that used to form part of the group and are no longer required are either laid dormant or liquidated/closed down, which is what has happened here.

"Axis Services Group remains strong and is continuing to operate in its normal day-to-day operations."

Morfuni took control of Swindon in July 2021 and oversaw an extraordinary first season as the League Two club made the play-offs before falling to Port Vale.

The past 12 months was far less successful with the appointment of three permanent managers and a 10th-place finish in League Two.

Although, off the pitch, Town and the club's supporters completed a deal to purchase the County Ground from Swindon Borough Council in March 2023.

Town are preparing for a third consecutive campaign in the fourth tier under new boss, Michael Flynn.
