A group of bikers have gathered to pay tribute to their friend who died on the A419 last year.

Swindon Bikers rode past the scene of Mike Allen’s crash on the A419 on July 7, to mark one year on from his fatal collision.

Watching on a bridge above the road were Mike’s widow, Rachel, and their children.

They released balloons as the bikers passed underneath them.

40-year-old Mike, from Wroughton, died in a crash on the busy dual carriageway near Blunsdon.

This follows the touching moment the previous month when the same group of bikers accompanied Mike and Rachel's teenage daughter Izzy Allen to her prom.

Rachel said that she could not thank the bikers enough for everything they had done to support her and her children following the family's tragic loss.

"Swindon Bikers and Marc Adair have been so kind so I just want to say a special thank you to them.

"Our lives have been shattered and our lives will never be the same ever again, but our children are doing us very proud."

After his death, Rachel helped fulfil a wish of Mike's by getting Izzy a horse called Ben that she could ride to continue her promising show-jumping career and Izzy has gone from strength to strength competing since then.

"I still go to Mike's Grave everyday to sit and have a chat and a cry. I tell him everything that's going on.

"Our beautiful little Granddaughter starts school in September and she said recently on the phone will Grandad be there & I said, 'of course, he’s everywhere we go'. She says good night to him every night.

"I will always keep Mike's memory alive & make him a part of everything we do.

"We are still in contact with Mike's work friends which is lovely so we have a laugh about all the old days and all the lovely memories.

"We have made some lovely friends that Mike used to go out on his bike with."

Rachel added that she has kept all of Mike's things exactly the same as they were left on the day he died.
