A VILLAGE near Swindon is set to put on quite a show for the 91st time.
Wanborough's Village and County Show celebrated its 90th-anniversary last year, but it is back again to entertain residents and visitors alike.
Taking place on August 19 at the usual location of Church Meadow in Upper Wanborough, this year's event is set to be 'the best yet', according to organisers.
This year’s main arena entertainment is headlined by Steve Colley, one of the world’s best trial bike riders.
A spokesperson said: "The crowd are sure to be amazed by the stunts Steve performs, including over people, drop off’s, tricks and even wheelies and stoppies into the crowd!"
K&H Falconry will also be performing in the main arena with their team of birds which will impress crowds majestically flying through the air.
In addition to this, there are lots of free activities for the family to take part in including the return of the popular climbing wall and two new attractions for 2023, a surf simulator and wildlife display which offers visitors a ‘hands-on’ approach with a variety of animals, including snakes, spiders, scorpions, insects, meerkats and 'cute and cuddlies'.
Other attractions include a fairground, a beer tent (with entertainment from jazz duo Gilmore n Jaz), a raffle and the ever-popular vintage vehicle display which has become a staple of the show over the years.
2023 also sees the return of the Wanborough Companion Dog Show which includes four pedigree classes along with ten novelty classes meaning there is something to suit all abilities.
The show is a not-for-profit event and all money raised is used to cover the costs of running it, with surplus funds distributed to local organisations and worthy causes.
Sue Ripley, show chairman said “We are excited to welcome everyone back to the show again after a bumper year in 2022. We have a great lineup of amazing acts and attractions for the whole family and it is sure to be an enjoyable day for all.
"We know it is a tough time for lots of families at the moment so we worked hard to ensure that we were able to freeze the price of entry this year so there is no increase from 2022”.
