A popular Swindon café has attained the top rating for food hygiene ahead of its 20th anniversary.
Trenchers at Kembrey Business Park in Upper Stratton has been a sandwich hotspot in the town since its creation in October 2003.
It was handed another five-out-of-five rating after the Food Standards Agency’s inspection on Tuesday, August 8.
The café’s hygienic handling of food and its management of food safety were deemed to be very good.
Manager Jason Cuthbert, originally from Swansea, believes that the rating is the most important aspect of the business.
“We have always been five since being here so we loved retained it,” he said.
“It is so important because if I got anything less than five I would be absolutely mad with myself as it acts as a badge of approval, encouraging new people to try us out.”
“When you’re dealing with food you have to be on it at all times and make sure it is handled and prepared correctly.”
The location offers a variety of food and drink to the local workers nearby.
“We cater mostly to people who work in the area and we look after them giving them a freshly made option for breakfast and lunch.
“We don’t sell prepacked stuff but rather fresher goods and we make things the way people like them.”
