A Swindon police officer stopped a shoplifter during his lunch break.
A member of a Swindon North, East, and Rural community police team visited the Orbital Retail Park on Sunday to get some lunch and ended up catching a criminal.
He arrested the suspect and shared a photo online of the basket of cosmetic products that the would-be shoplifter had tried to take from Boots.
A spokesman for the police said: "We don’t want to make him blush - but one of our cops thinks this is about £100 worth of make-up.
"The officer popped to get lunch at the Orbital Retail Park, and ended up arresting a shop lifter instead - duty before dinner, the foundation of good policing.
"However our brows were raised when he guessed the cost, and we gave his estimate the brush off (and he got a bit of lip from us too).
"Can you face off against him and guess how much the returned goods were worth?"
The estimates suggested by others ranged from £150 to £410.
On Monday afternoon, the community policing team confirmed that the goods were worth £445.65.
The offender has now been remanded to prison, and is also being interviewed by Immigration Officers having overstayed on a visa.
