A large area of Swindon town centre has been left without electricity following a power cut today.
The Corporation Street area has had no power since 12.10pm on Monday afternoon after a power cut.
The section of network which has been affected by this interruption is in the Lagos Street and Alfred Street area and supplies 50 properties.
A spokesperson from SSEN Distribution said: “Our engineers are due on site shortly and once they have carried out their preliminary investigations, we will have a better understanding of how many of these 50 properties are off-supply and also the cause of the interruption.
“We would like to apologise to our customers who have been affected by this power cut and assure them that our engineers will do all they can to restore their supplies as safely and as quickly as possible.”
This power cut comes after the affected area was closed off last month as Swindon Borough Council began construction works as part of the Fleming Way refurbishment.
Drivers will now have to find new routes of navigating the town for the foreseeable future as the works are continued.
