A Swindon fast food restaurant that recently reopened following a fire has received the top food hygiene rating.
Burger King on Queen’s Drive was gutted in June of 2021 by a large fire that started in the building’s roof space.
The restaurant was then closed for two years as repairs and renovations were carried out before it opened its doors again on July 1.
A food hygiene inspection was then carried out on Thursday, August 10, by inspectors from the Council’s Environmental Health team.
The eatery was awarded a five-out-of-five score with the new facilities impressing those who came to inspect.
Burger King’s hygienic handling of food which includes preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling and storage was deemed to be very good.
The cleanliness and condition of the facilities and the building were also adjudged to have been of a very good standard.
This relates to having an appropriate layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities and pest control to enable good food hygiene.
Burger King’s management of food safety which regards the restaurant having checks in place to ensure that food sold or served is safe to eat was also classed as very good.
This also proves that there is evidence that staff know about food safety and that the food safety officer has confidence that standards will be maintained in future.
