Several red London buses have been spotted around Swindon in recent weeks, leaving locals perplexed.
Buses in the town are normally blue and green, making them instantly recognisable to residents.
But recently a number of red, London-style buses have been seen doing the rounds in Swindon and people have been asking why.
“I have seen around five or six different buses today alone,” said local man Barry Cook.
The answer has now been shared by Swindon's Bus Company. And it revealed that the new vehicles are indeed from the capital.
This new fleet is a temporary measure until the end of the year in order to restock bus numbers in the town after losing several.
Paul Coyne, Swindon’s Bus Company operations manager, said: “We have drafted in eight buses from our sister company in London to replace some buses which have been deployed elsewhere.
“This is temporary, and we expect our buses to return in their traditional green and blue colours in December.
“In the meantime, we hope people enjoy seeing a temporary splash of red on Swindon’s buses.”
