A Swindon MP has weighed in on the allegations of rape, sexual assault and coercive behaviour made against Russell Brand.
The actor and comedian is facing allegations of sexual assaults, between 2006 and 2013, made by four women after a joint investigation by The Times, The Sunday Times and Channel 4 Dispatches.
Speaking on GB News, South Swindon Conservative MP Sir Robert Buckland has called for the alleged victims to be given the time and space that would allow due process to take place.

He said: “I very much hope here that we do get clarity and that victims of crime get justice.
“That surely has got to be in everybody’s interest. The news is dominated by it today.
“I think it’s really important that we now give complainants the space and the time to make their complaints or not and for due process to take place as this country is renowned for.”
The former Justice Secretary also described the allegations made against Mr Brand as “very serious” and told GB News presenter Camilla Tominey they should be treated with shock.
He added: “I think all of us have to react with some shock about these revelations because they involve very, very serious matters.
“I can't imagine anything more serious in terms of the alleged conduct of a major figure who's well known in life, a star.”
Mr Buckland, who practiced as a barrister in Wales for 18 years, was also quizzed about whether Channel 4 and the BBC, who Mr Brand has worked for previously, should investigate themselves over the complaints.
In response he said: “I think it’s the hallmark of a more open system and broadcaster to allow teams within their own organisation to do that (investigate).
“However, we know that the path here is a rather chequered one and we’ve seen this before with the BBC where units go off and do things unilaterally and then things just veer into a miasma of indecision.
“I think the Savile case was an appalling example of that.”
Mr Brand, 48, denied the allegations made against him ahead of the airing of Channel 4’s Dispatches special on Saturday night.
In a YouTube video he said: “Amidst this litany of astonishing rather baroque attacks, are some very serious allegations that I absolutely refute.”
The comedian spoke to fans on Saturday night when he performed at Bipolarisation at the Troubadour Wembley Park theatre in London.
