Work has begun on a new gym in Swindon.
It was first announced in November of 2022 that JD Gyms, owned by sports-fashion retail company JD Sports, would be coming to the town.
A “state-of-the-art facility” was promised and in August, the chain revealed that the new gym is due to open this winter and will cover 24,000 square feet.
Now 10 months after the initial announcement, JD Gyms has started to move into its new Swindon home.
The brand, which first branched out into in gyms in 2014, will open next to the B&M store on Ocotal Way.
This means that the business will be heading into B&M’s old building which the company moved out of in March.
The exact opening date for JD Gyms in Swindon remains a mystery but scaffolding could be seen at the location over the weekend.
Fences have also been erected around the area while workers were spotted inside the building.
Managing director of JD Gyms, Alun Peacock, said: “Swindon is a fantastic location for us, and we're excited to expand the JD Gyms brand into Wiltshire for the first time.
“We’re incredibly proud to be creating such a high standard of fitness facility for the people of Swindon.”
