THERE are signs that a new bowling alley coming to Swindon is now well on its way.

Hollywood Bowl is looking to open a bowling alley in the former PC World unit at Greenbridge Retail Park and it is expected to open next year.

The tech retailer moved out of the unit in early 2021, and then the charity Computers for Africa was allowed to temporarily operate out of the premises for a few months until Currys' lease ran out.

It then sat empty for two years until it was reported in May that Hollywood Bowl had earmarked the unit as the home for a new venue.

And recently shopfitting company J Projects has set up scaffolding and fencing around the empty unit.

This indicates that the process of bringing a bowling alley to this side of Swindon is well underway, although an exact opening date is not yet known.

In May, the Original Bowling Company Limited submitted an application to Swindon Borough Council asking for a new premises licence that would allow it to turn Unit 15 of the retail park near Drakes Way into a Hollywood Bowl.

The council approved the application at the end of August.
