Several parts of the A419 will be closed during the next two weeks.
National Highways is carrying out work on three major sections of the busy main road.
These road works will cover almost the entire length of the road section passing through Swindon.
The A419 heading Northbound will be closed between the A420 junction to the Turnpike Junction for three days.
The closure will take place from 8pm to 6am every day between Monday, September 25 to Thursday, September 28. This is so that repair and reconstruction can be carried out on the road.
The section of road going northbound from the M4 Junction 15 up to Commonhead roundabout will also be closed at those same times every weekday from Friday, September 29 up until Saturday, October 7, for the same reason.
Electrical works will also take place overnight from 8pm on Sunday, October 8 to 6am the next day.
The northbound stretch between the Commonhead roundabout and A420 will be closed between 8pm and 6am every night between October 9 and October 21. This is for carriageway reconstruction and repair.
As well as these National Highway closures, Virgin Media will be closing a lane on the A419 coming into Swindon from Cricklade, between the B4040 and B4019 junctions.
This will take place Monday to Friday from October 9 and October 13, and will affect drivers trying to get back to Swindon.
